Violent, psychologically deep dramas. – Elfen Lied One of the most vile, brutal, heartbreaking, scary anime shows in existence. The themes are also incredibly deep. – Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Violent anime with a dark introduction to the series. One of the best of its kind. – Fate Zero is dangerously more violent than Fate Stay Night. This anime is a little graphic, especially with a few “confused” characters. This is a fantasy/action/magic show. – Black Lagoon This gangster-like anime series goes without saying. Bold, dark and bred straight from the gutter. – Jormungand This anime will teach you the dark underworld of an arms dealer who finances wars to make a living. And it is a realistic representation of what happens in real life. – Samurai Champloo Lots of blood, action, brutality and surprisingly calm adventures along the way. – The Higurashi Horrific anime series is based on a cursed village and its inhabitants. – Officially rated 17+, Black Bullet (like many on this list)
